Bore & Stoke Breakout: Restructuring MV Agusta’s Dealers and Logistics
On Episode 10 of the Bore and Stoke podcast, Luca Dovesi described how MV Agusta executed a complete reset of its North American dealer network following its initial operational alignment with KTM. Dovesi explained that the management team established a re-application process, requiring prospective and returning retailers to demonstrate that it’s onboard with MV’s brand vision, technical standards, and customer care goals. The goal was to aim for a long-term footprint of roughly 80 dedicated dealerships across North America.
“Reset was our ground zero for dealerships,” Dovesi shared during the interview. “We had to make sure that partner to partner, we were aligned on what to do with the brand.” At the time of the recording, MV Agusta had established approximately 40 active dealers across key regions in California, Texas, the Midwest, Canada, and Mexico, strategically capping store counts to protect dealer profitability and customer service quality.
To resolve legacy concerns regarding spare parts availability, Dovesi revealed that MV Agusta was dismantling shared sea-freight logistics models in favor of a direct-to-door air-freight system managed by a global logistics partner. He emphasized the drastic improvement in delivery times, declaring a, “five- to seven-day door-to-door delivery — that’s our goal. The lead time will be drastically improved because we are setting our own policy to serve our riders fast.”
