A Historic American Victory
The livery of the XDiavel V4 100 draws direct inspiration from the graphics of the legendary "California Hot Rod"—a heavily modified 750 Super Sport. It was aboard this historic motorcycle that racer Cook Neilson made Ducati history by securing a monumental victory at Daytona in 1977. This triumph was highly significant, as it marked the very first time an Italian motorcycle had won a production-derived race in the United States, a feat that drastically boosted Ducati's overseas sales and American popularity.
Prior to this 1977 victory on the Daytona oval track, Ducati's visibility in the United States was largely restricted to a single model: the Scrambler, an on/off-road machine imported into the country by the Berliner brothers. Neilson's iconic win completely shifted that American perception.
