Timeless: 80 Years of Vintage Vespa Ads
Vespa is celebrating its 80th anniversary in 2026, and the iconic scooter brand has a number of festivities planned throughout the year. For starters, its parent company, Piaggio, has opened its vault and shared a selection of classic Vespa advertisements, tracing back to its founding in 1946.
Two things stand out as we peruse these vintage ads. First, they provide a historic look at how advertising has evolved over eight decades, with new art styles and mediums developing over time, and across different markets. And second, despite many technological changes over 80 years and nearly 20 million scooters rolling off the production line, every Vespa has retained a consistent style through its entire history, proving that some things really are timeless.
