Long-distance variant gets updated electronics

A little more than a year ago, Ducati updated its Multistrada V4 lineup for the 2025 model year, mainly with some new electronics and Euro5+ compliance. At the time, we noted that the superbike-powered RS model and the long-distance touring Rally model were both conspicuously absent. Last month, Ducati announced the 2026 Multistrada V4 RS, so it’s no surprise to see the Italian brand follow up with an updated Multistrada V4 Rally.

As before, the Multistrada V4 Rally comes equipped with a 7.9 gallon fuel tank (2.1 gallons larger than the other Multistrada V4 models) and longer travel suspension, making it more capable of chewing up miles in comfort than the other variants. The Rally model also comes with a larger windshield to better accommodate riding two-up.

The engine is the same 1,158cc V4 Granturismo as the other variants (with the exception of the Multistrada V4 RS), with Ducati claiming a peak output of 170 hp at 10,750 rpm and 91 lb-ft. at 9,000 rpm. For 2026, the V4 Rally’s engine is Euro 5+ compliant, and is equipped with an extended cylinder deactivation strategy which turns off the rear cylinder bank at a standstill or at low engine speeds to improve fuel economy and reduce emissions.

The aluminum monocoque frame returns unchanged, but the double-sided aluminum swingarm has a slightly higher pivot point, with Ducati claiming more precise handling under full load.

Like the rest of the family, the 2026 Multistrada V4 Rally is now Euro5+ compliant and equipped with new electronics, including a radar-backed Forward Collision Warning system, and the MotoGP-developed Ducati Vehicle Observer (DVO) algorithm. DVO simulates the input of 70 sensors, combining that data with input from the IMU to control electronic rider aids such as traction control, wheelie control, and the Electronic Combined Braking System.

The lean-sensitive Electronic Combined Braking System uses the DVO and IMU inputs to determine the optimal amount of front and rear braking based on the required load. The combined system works front-to-rear and rear-to-front; when one brake control is applied, the system automatically manages the other. Specifically for the Rally model, Ducati refined the system to account for the potential extra load of a passenger and the larger fuel tank to reduce pitching during braking and improve comfort.

The Skyhook semi-active suspension system can now be adjusted on the fly, regardless of ride mode, and now offers auto-leveling and automatic lowering device. Like the other Multistrada models, the lowering device reduces the suspension at speeds below 10 kph (about 6 mph). For the V4 Rally, Ducati set a different speed threshold for when it returns to its normal ride height. When riding on roads, the seat height returns to normal at speeds above 50 kph (31 mph), and when off-road, it returns when you hit 20 kph (12 mph).

Other updates include a larger 280mm rear brake disc, Ducati Quick Shift 2.0, and a tire pressuring monitoring system (TPMS). Ducati also introduced a new Jade Green/Brushed Aluminum color scheme with gold-colored wheels and a brushed aluminum fuel tank, to go along with the usual Ducati Red/Brushed Aluminum with black wheels option.

For other markets, Ducati is offering the Multistrada V4 Rally in three trim levels. The Radar trim bundles adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, and forward collision warning. The Adventure Travel & Radar trim adds aluminum side cases and heated rider and passenger seats. The Full Adventure trim goes further with an Akrapovič muffler and carbon fiber front fender. For the United States, Ducati is only offering the Adventure Travel & Radar trim, with a starting price of $31,995 for red, and $32,495 for the Jade Green color.

The 2026 Multistrada V4 Rally will arrive in European dealerships in November, followed by the U.S. in December, while customers in Japan and Australia will have to wait until January 2026.

Oil changes every 24 months? Sheesh, after spending that much $$$ on these beauties, I'd be changing it every 2 months!
