2025-2026 Harley-Davidson Softail Models Recalled For Rear Brake Issue
Heritage Classic, Street Bob, Low Rider S, and Low Rider ST affected
Harley-Davidson is recalling certain 2025-2026 Softail models because of a potential loss of rear brake fluid. The recall affects the Street Bob, Heritage Classic, Low Rider S, and Low Rider ST, models but not the Breakout, Fat Boy, or the Gray Ghost. The recall affects 16,994 motorcycles.
According to recall documentation released by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the rear brake lines on affected Softails may be too close to the body control module (BCM), located next to the battery. Over time, contact with the BCM can wear a hole in the line, resulting in a brake fluid leak. This can result in a loss in rear brake performance, and an increased risk of a crash.
The four models involved have a narrower frame design than the frame of the Breakout, Fat Boy, and Gray Ghost, whose frame is wide enough to provide enough clearance between the BCM and the rear brake line.
Harley-Davidson first became aware of a potential problem on March 5, after receiving a report of rear brake failure on a 2025 Low Rider ST. A review of warranty and service records found three additional reports of brake fluid loss or inoperable rear brakes. Harley-Davidson then placed a hold on all affected motorcycles within its control pending an investigation. On April 6, the investigation concluded a safety defect exists, triggering a voluntary recall. As of that date, Harley-Davidson had not received any reports of crashes or injuries related to rear brake failure.
Harley-Davidson dealers will replace the BCM caddy and associated hardware on recalled models. The new caddy repositions the BCM, creating enough clearance from the rear brake line. Dealers will also inspect their rear brake lines and replace them if they show signs of damage. Models shipped after March 18 are equipped with the new BCM caddy.

Next recall, a failure for the control module operating the brass-fitted nickel slits, our bracketed caps, and splay-flexed brace columns vent dampers to dampening hatch depths of one half meter from the damper crown to the spurve plinths.
