All will be revealed May 15 at Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este

BMW released images across social media teasing the concept bike it will show at the 2026 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este May 15-17… and it certainly isn’t what we expected.

The German manufacturer can usually be counted on to present an eye-catching motorcycle concept at the annual classic and vintage car showcase on the shore of Lake Como in northern Italy. In past years, BMW debuted the Concept RR, which we expect to be the next-gen S 1000 RR, the R 20 roadster, and other concepts that eventually resulted in the R 12 S, F 900 XR, and CE 04. Based on past history, the concepts shown at Villa d’Este have a good track record of eventually going into production.

BMW showed off the R20 concept at the Concorso d'Eleganzo in 2024, and we expect it will enter production very soon.

Based on the teaser image, it looks like this year’s concept will be a… drag racing bagger? That sounds unlikely to be something BMW would actually produce, but based on what little we know, that’s our best guess.

The long silhouette certainly gives drag racing vibes, with the extended wheelbase intended to inhibit wheelies. If the seat is where we think it is, it would put the rider leaning far forward right on the fuel tank. On Instagram, the image is paired with the caption: “Designed for full force. Ready for takeoff,” and on YouTube, the reveal video is titled “Full Force Forward | New BMW Motorrad Vision”, with the caption: “Something is on the runway about to be unveiled.”

Speaking of Visions, The long, pointed tail with what looks to be an extended taillight gives me Victory Vision vibes, which, well, let’s just say that Polaris’ art deco styling is an acquired taste.

BMW Motorrad Chief Executive Officer Markus Flasch shared another clue, with a look at some unpainted bodywork and the words “Not just a bike, a bit of an obsession. Getting there.”

Based on the selective word choices BMW has used, it sounds like the concept will be something that accelerates quickly, with some aeronautical hints. Drag races typically happen on dedicated drag strips, but airport runways can also do in a pinch.

Still, a posh event like the Concorso d’Eleganza seems like an odd place to show a drag racer. Color us at least intrigued about what BMW has to offer, though we’re probably more excited about what eventual production model will come out of this concept.
