Well that didn’t take long.

It was only last week that KTM revealed what it called the “the most extreme evolution of KTM’s Hypernaked philosophy” in the 1390 Super Duke RR. Essentially a limited edition Super Duke R with higher-end suspension, carbon fiber componentry, and a full suite of electronics, the double-R was positioned at the top of KTM’s Duke lineup as the peak of pure performance.

As it turns out, that wasn’t even its final form, as KTM has now revealed an even more high performance version in the 1390 Super Duke RR Track. As its name suggests, this is a track-only version of the RR, with all of the street-mandated pieces like mirrors, lighting and license plate hangers removed. Fully-compliant with FIM racetrack regulations, this is the first time KTM has produced a track-only Super Duke.

Throw on some more carbon, a full titanium Akrapovič Evolution Line exhaust, and you get even more weight savings. The steel trellis frame also received a small diet, with all of the unnecessary mounting points removed. KTM claims the Track model has a weight of 390 pounds, “ready to race” but somehow without fuel, compared to 417 pounds for the “regular” RR, and 441 pounds for the Super Duke R EVO (the only naked 1390 currently available in the U.S. market).

KTM’s 1,350cc LC8 V-Twin engine is mostly unchanged from the regular Super Duke R, except for the use of lightweight titanium bolts. With a race air filter, a new mapping, and the Akrapovič exhaust system, KTM claims the Track model outputs 193 hp at 10,000 rpm (199 hp with the ram-air system at 155 mph) and 111 lb-ft. of torque, compared to 190 hp at 10,000 rpm and 107 lb-ft. at 8,000 rpm for the other 1390 Super Duke variants.

The Track model comes equipped with a WP Pro 8548 closed cartridge fork, an even more premium option than the street-legal model’s WP Pro 7548. The 8548 is designed with even tighter tolerances than the 7548, with KTM claiming precise feedback, improved traction, and reduced tire wear. The fork offers adjustable compression, rebound, and spring preload, plus the ability to change springs without having to remove the fork legs from the bike. For a “factory” look, the lower legs are CNC-machined. The WP Pro 8750 rear shock is the same as on the street bike, offering full adjustability including high- and low-speed compression damping.

The standard RR’s Hypure calipers are nothing to scoff at, but again, KTM upped the performance level on the Track model with Superbike-spec Brembo GP4-MS monoblock four-piston radial-mound calipers and T-Drive discs. The GP4-MS are machined from solid aluminum, with integrated fins for improved heat dissipation. The discs use eight T-shaped pins instead of traditional studs to connect the steel disc to the aluminum bell, with Brembo claiming lighter weight and improved resistance to thermal-mechanical stress.

The 7-spoke forged magnesium wheels are similar to the street RR model, drawing inspiration from the KTM RC16 MotoGP bike, but the street-legal Michelin Power GP tires are swapped out for Michelin Power Performance slicks.

The only area that KTM opted to dial back on the 1390 Super Duke RR Track is the electronics system. The Track model offers just three ride modes, losing five street-oriented modes offered on the RR. Riders will still have the option to tailor the three modes to their specific needs, adjusting wheelie control, engine brake control, motor slip regulation, throttle response, and quickshifter settings. The Track model also comes with a 4.2-inch TFT display instead of the tablet-sized 8.8-inch screens on the other Super Dukes.

The 1390 Super Duke RR Track has not been confirmed for the U.S., as was the case with the double-R. KTM will only produce 100 units of the Track model, compared to 350 units of the street-legal model. In the U.K., the Track model has a base price of £32,999 (US$44,550), or just about the price of a £24,999 Super Duke RR and a £7,999 790 Duke combined.

Good catch. KTM listed the bore and stroke in the reverse order everyone else does, and we didn't account for that when formatting the data.

There might be a market for this sort of thing.

    I guess.
