Stark Announces Varg SM Supermoto
Electric supermoto with a claimed 80 hp and 274.5 pound weight
Stark Future officially announced the Varg SM, the electric brand's new electric supermoto. Built upon its Varg EX off-road model and Varg MX motocross racer, the Varg SM is the latest step in establishing the brand's on-road presence.
We first caught wind of the SM model in March, when Stark submitted a vehicle identification number (VIN) decoder to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for the SM and EX.
Stark claims a peak output of 80 hp and 674 lb-ft. of torque from the Varg SM in its Alpha configuration, while weighing just 274.5 pounds, giving it a power-to-weight ratio that outshines its fuel burning competition. The standard version claims a more modest 60 hp.
The Stark Varg SM retails for $12,900 in its standard configuration, and $13,900 for the Alpha version.

Advanced Battery & Powertrain

It delivers solid performance across various riding conditions: up to 120 km (74.6 miles) in mixed-urban settings, 79 km (49 miles) on highways, and 81 km (50.3 miles) under WMTC real-world testing. Recharging takes less than two hours using Stark’s revolutionary 3.3 kW portable charger, compact enough to fit in a backpack and compatible with standard household outlets or AC car chargers.
The carbon–fiber–sleeved motor, with an integrated inverter, sets a new benchmark in power-to-weight efficiency. Tested against the brutal demands of motocross, it’s built to take on a challenge, validated to full automotive standards.Â

The VARG SM is built on a high-strength steel frame with a forged aluminum subframe and precision-machined triple clamps engineered for ideal stiffness and flex. Suspension is provided by KYB, featuring fully adjustable 48 mm closed-cartridge, 290mm stroke forks, and a triple-adjuster rear shock with 303 mm of travel.Â
A newly developed triple clamp gives the SM greater steering precision and front-end feel, while CNC-machined hubs, aero-grade rims, and Brembo brakes deliver exceptional stopping power and stability.
The cockpit features internally routed wiring, a CNC aluminum map switch, and Stark’s rugged Arkenstone display, a waterproof, shock-resistant Android-based dashboard providing GPS navigation, real-time ride data, over-the-air updates, and full tuning control directly from the handlebars.Â

I think the point is that they are likely working on something heavier with longer range and maybe some more comfort. This company seems to have the best shot at a viable electric road motorcycle. Time will tell.
Yeahhh..... about that "674 lb-ft" claim.
Little something called an electric controller, which moves energy from the batteries to the motor. Put all of it there, the whole bike would whip around the motor like a cordless drill that caught in a piece of steel.
I calculated on occasion how much torque is generated at the axle on a few bikes, one being the MT-07. In 1st gear the torque at the wheel is IMMENSE.
EV brands love to use their numbers to impress would-be buyers who are used to hearing torque and hp figures on combustion engines, and don't understand that it makes all the difference where those numbers are taken from.
