2026 Triumph Scrambler 400 XC – First Look
Arrives in September for $6,695
Triumph announced the global release of a new addition to its entry-level TR series lineup with the Scrambler 400 XC. Originally announced in May for the Indian market — where Triumph’s 400 models are produced by its partner, Bajaj Auto — the 2026 Triumph Scrambler 400 XC arrives in North America in September with a starting price of $6,695.

The Scrambler 400 XC follows a familiar pattern set by Triumph’s larger Scramblers in offering a more off-road capable variant to the more road-focused base model. The Scrambler 400 XC adds wire-spoked wheels, tubeless tires, a high front fender, a flyscreen and engine protection, making it a more rugged option over the 400 X.
The 400 XC uses the same 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel combination as the 400 X, but they are wire spoked wheels with Excel aluminum rims instead of cast aluminum. The side-laced construction allows the 400 XC to run tubeless Metzeler Karoo Street tires.
The suspension system is unchanged from the 400 X, with a 43mm inverted Big Piston fork and preload-adjustable remote reservoir rear shock, and 5.9 inches of travel on either end. The braking system is likewise similar, with a single four-piston radial-mount caliper and 320mm disc up front and a single piston caliper with a 230mm disc at the rear. Anti-lock brakes are standard, and like the X model, the Scrambler 400 XC can also be disabled for off-road riding.
The engine is unchanged, with the 398cc liquid-cooled DOHC Single claiming the same 39.5 hp at 8,000 rpm and 27.7 lb-ft. at 6,500 rpm as the 400 X and Speed 400. The 400 XC does offer a bit more protection, with engine bars and an aluminum sump guard.
We were already big fans of Triumph’s TR platform, enough to have the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X share Best Value Motorcycle honors in our 2024 MOBO awards. At $6,695, the 400 XC is an additional $800 over the price of the regular X model, so it’s not quite as good a bargain unless you really want the added protection and wire-spoke wheels.
The 2026 Triumph Scrambler 400 XC will be available in three color options: Racing Yellow, Storm Grey, and Vanilla White.
