BMW Reveals R 12 G/S GS Trophy Competition Bike for 2026 Event

BMW Motorrad has unveiled the official competition motorcycle for the upcoming 2026 International GS Trophy in Romania: a specially prepared BMW R 12 G/S. Scheduled for late summer 2026, the biennial event will challenge international team riders across Romania's diverse off-road terrain, ranging from mountain tracks and forests to river crossings.

The competition bike is based on the production R 12 G/S but comes outfitted with a robust selection of factory accessories and optional packages to handle the demands of the event.

Key Equipment & Technical Upgrades

The GS Trophy spec sheet includes several electronics and comfort packages directly from the BMW catalog:

• Comfort Package: Adds Gear Shift Assist Pro, Hill Start Control, heated grips, and cruise control.
• Enduro Package Pro: Features off-road tires, an 18-inch rear wheel, and handlebar risers for better standing ergonomics.
• Electronics & Lighting: Equipped with Headlight Pro (featuring adaptive cornering lights) and Riding Modes Pro.
• Protection & Accessories: Includes sturdy engine protection bars, cylinder head guards, a Rally cockpit fairing, and prep for a navigation system. An Akrapovič silencer provides the exhaust note, while a 5-liter tank bag is repurposed as a rear luggage bag.

While this exact turnkey competition model is not sold directly in dealerships, riders can easily replicate the build. By starting with the standard R 12 G/S in Lightwhite uni—which features the classic BMW Motorsport blue tank accents and a red seat—customers can order the same catalog parts to match the setup. The only elements exclusive to the event bikes are the official GS Trophy graphics and decals.
