2025 Honda CB1000 Hornet SP Recalled For Fuel Leak Risk

Fuel feed hose may come loose

Honda announced a recall for the CB1000 Hornet SP because of a risk of the fuel hose coming loose, which can result in a fuel leak. The recall affects 429 units in the U.S., and a stop sale notice has been issued on new and used models.

The problem isn’t about the fuel hose itself, but rather the angle sensor’s coupler. According to documents released by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the coupler may get positioned between the fuel feed hose and the turn signal relay during assembly. This may cause the coupler to bump against the fuel hose’s quick connector mechanism and unlock it. This can cause the fuel hose to disconnect under normal riding conditions, resulting in a fuel leak.

Honda first became aware of this problem on May 23, 2025, after receiving one reported case in Europe. While Honda was investigating the issue, additional reports continued to come in from customers in Europe and Japan between November 13, 2025, and January 13, 2026. Honda concluded its investigation on March 19, 2026, determining a safety defect exists and initiated recall procedures.

That timing is significant, as the recall documents state Honda corrected the issue on the production line on August 26, 2025, which should mean 2026 models are not affected. However, that also means it took another seven months before Honda decided to recall 2025 models. Manufacturers are expected to report recalls within 5 business days of concluding a defect exists. Officially, Honda claims it did that, drawing that conclusion five days before submitting the recall March 26, but NHTSA might have some questions about the timeline.

It doesn’t help that the fuel leak recall is the third to affect the 2025 CB1000, following a recall for loose gearshift pedals in October, and another in December for excessive engine oil consumption from improper piston and piston ring specifications.

Thankfully, the remedy for the latest issue sounds fairly straightforward. Honda dealers will inspect recalled models and properly secure the angle sensor coupler wiring harness, preventing it from coming in contact with the fuel feed hose’s quick connector. Honda will also replace the fuel hose on recalled models. As of March 19, there have been no reported issues in the U.S. market.

Very close. One of the guys on the Honda assembly line accidently dropped his contacts inside the airbox. He can't see now. He needs them back.

    Oil-burning engine.

    Loose gearshift pedals.

Floppy fuel hose, fuel leak risk.

I'll head them off before it's back for recall: Hey Honda, that flimsy coolant reservoir cap on that coolant bottle just in front of the rear tire, it can leak when leaned far-over to the right, spitting coolant onto the rear tire.
