In Gear: Cortech Mirror Breaker Glove Review

A flawed name for an otherwise decent glove

Don’t let the silly name turn you off from these Cortech leather gloves. Despite being named after an action we, as professional motorcyclists, don't condone, the Mirror Breaker glove from Cortech is a solid option for a low price. Made from drum-dyed cowhide leather on the top of the hand, the Mirror Breaker’s construction is rounded out on the palm with a faux goat leather, which offers touchscreen capability on the fingers, and extra cowhide overlays throughout for better abrasion resistance. TPU sliders can be found across the top of the glove on the knuckles and pre-curved fingers, adorned with stainless steel accents.

Accordion stretch panels make for easy dexterity while perforations allow airflow in select areas. Bits of reflectivity can also be found throughout. A simple hook and loop closure on the inside of the wrist keeps the gloves secure on your mitts. While the large I ordered was a bit snug originally, it has broken in nicely as the miles tick off. The only time I’ve wished for better top side protection on my gloves was in a pop-up hail storm...

That's a very ill-considered product name. I'm sure someone thought it'd be funny, but I'm afraid some riders may think breaking car mirrors after perceived (or real) on-road slights is a valid response.

Otherwise, I think Cortech riding gear gets short-shrift in the riding community where so many riders think only Alpinestars and Dainese make quality products. Cortech products are a great value while providing excellent protection.

I agree about Cortech. I have a set of summer gear by Cortech/Tour Master & they are great. The mesh has held up really well over 15 years of summer riding with good armor. I have no idea what they would cost now but back then they were a good deal.
