2027 KTM 890 Adventure R Rally – First Look
Factory level suspension and Red Bull livery for $22,649
The KTM 890 Adventure R Rally is returning for 2027 (2026 in some markets) as a limited production model. Developed from KTM’s Dakar Rally program, the 890 Adventure R Rally offers factory-level race suspension, and Red Bull livery.
The Rally model comes equipped with a WP XPLOR Pro suspension developed specifically for racing. Up front, it uses a fully adjustable XPLOR PRO 7546 fork with shim-less Cone Valve technology, and for the rear, a XPLOR PRO 6746 shock, which is fully adjustable including both high- and low-speed compression. Suspension travel is 10.6 inches on either end, compared to 9.4 inches on the regular production 890 Adventure R. According to KTM, the suspension provides better bottoming resistance, and maintains a planted feel at speed, and comfort even when loaded with luggage and a passenger.
The upgraded suspension increases the ground clearance from 10.4 inches to 11.9 inches, while the saddle height elevates the seat up to 35.8 inches, compared to 34.6 inches for the regular model.
KTM equipped the 890 Adventure R Rally with tube-type Excel rims, a 2.15 x 21” up front, and a 4 x 18” at the rear, compared to the regular model’s larger tubeless 2.5 x 21” and 4.5 x 18” combination. The wheels come shod in tubed Mitas Enduro Trail+ 60% road/40% off-road tires.
The chassis is otherwise the same as the regular 890 Adventure R, with a powder-coated chromium-molybdenum steel frame using the engine as a stressed element. The front wheel is equipped with dual radially-mounted four-piston calipers paired with 320mm discs, while the rear uses a two-piston floating caliper and 260mm disc.
The engine is also unchanged from the regular production model: an 889cc parallel-Twin claiming a peak of 105 hp and 73.8 lb-ft. The Rally version comes standard with an Akrapovič titanium slip-on.
Other highlights include a factory racing footpeg kit, a one-piece flat-profile Rally seat, and a Tech Pack of electronics usually offered as an add-on for the regular 890 Adventure. The Tech Pack includes a Rally mode with 10 levels of wheel-slip control, motor slip regulation, cruise control, and bidirectional quickshifter+.
The 2027 KTM 890 Adventure R Rally starts at $22,649, which is a $6,350 premium over the non-Rally model. Look for it in dealerships this spring.
