Being the oldest continuously operating motorcycle company in the world, Royal Enfield’s been chugging along since 1901. When choosing where to hold the press introduction for its newest model to North America, the Classic 650, Enfield had a novel idea: going to one of the oldest cities in the United States: St. Augustine, Florida — which dates back to the 1500s.

Back in the ’90s, as fully faired sport bikes dominated showrooms, Ducati chose rebellion over refinement. With bodywork stripped away and the engine and trellis frame proudly exposed, the Ducati Monster was born. Now, more than three decades after the first Monster hit the scene, Ducati gave us the opportunity to sample the latest fifth-generation Monster through the sinuous mountain roads of the Costa del Sol just north of Malaga, Spain — expectations were high.

The Trident moniker has been found on many important models from Triumph Motorcycles over the years. The first Trident was ushered in alongside (some might say before) the venerable Honda CB750, which shaped the modern superbike category as we know it today. Next up, after the aforementioned Japanese machine (among others) dominated the global market, Triumph took a little siesta before being woken up and brought back to market in the way we know it today by British billionaire, Mr. John Bloor. In that resurgence, the Trident namesake was revived as well with the Triple-powered Trident 900 alongside five other models marking Triumph Motorcycle’s return. Approximately 30 years later, the Trident 660 hit the scene and accolades were lauded — most important of all, MO’s own Best Value Motorcycle of 2021.

Triumph revealed a new, limited edition version of the Speed Twin 1200 RS styled after British café racers of the 1960s. Limited to a run of just 800 units worldwide, the 2027 Triumph Speed Twin 1200 Cafe Racer Edition comes equipped with clip-on handlebars, round bar end mirrors and a retro-flavored brown solo seat.

Anyone who’s spent real time on a Suzuki SV650 understands why it’s earned such a loyal following.

Triumph announced updates to its middleweight platform, significantly improving the Trident 660 roadster and Tiger Sport 660 sport-tourer with changes that should make customers happy… Well, at least everyone except those who just bought last year’s models.

Triumph Motorcycle’s global press launch, which took place in Oceanside, California, presented five new motorcycles, and begged one fundamental question: what is at the core of our species’ fascination with motorcycles? This question was not asked directly, but arose naturally as I was able to take each of the 2026 Bonneville models for a spin through the foggy coast and sunny mountains of Southern California, and potentially rediscover some key element that turns people into riders.

Zero Motorcycles used the 2025 EICMA show to introduce two new projects: the LS1 scooter and this, the Lompico Concept. Both models reflect Zero's efforts to reach a wider audience, from urban commuters to tech-focused riders looking toward the next generation of electric mobility. Both of these models are also part of Zero's "All-Access" initiative of having a line of models all under $10,000USD.

The middleweight naked class has always been one of motorcycling’s best playgrounds. Affordable, approachable, and endlessly fun, these bikes are the gateway drug for many riders and a permanent fixture in the garage for plenty of veterans. This year we’ve lined up three contenders that all share a common thread: parallel-twin engines with 270-degree cranks. On paper, they should be similar. But if that were the case, we wouldn’t be here testing them.

Norton Motorcycles announced the end of production for the retro-standard Commando 961, the V4SV sportbike and the V4CR café racer, clearing the slate for an all-new product lineup under its new owner, TVS Motor Company.

BMW is introducing a new accessories package for the R 12 nineT that would give the retro roadster some flat track style.

BMW announced minor updates to its R 1250 R, giving the Boxer-engined roadster a full LED headlight, and making some previously optional electronics standard, all while keeping the price unchanged at $14,995.

Reinventing an Icon

Harley-Davidson has officially revealed the X 350 for the Chinese market, a small displacement flat track-inspired roadster produced with Qianjiang Motor (QJ Motor). As of this writing, the X 350 is only confirmed for China, though a modified variant known as the X350RA will be used in Harley-Davidson Rider Academy programs in the U.S.

American Honda officially announced the XR150L dual-sport for the U.S., alongside the returning Navi and an expanded CRF300L lineup that now includes a new low-seat height variant.

Harley-Davidson held its big 120th anniversary reveal last week, and for the most part, the announcement included the bikes we expected, such as the Nightster Special, and the return of the Breakout with a Milwaukee-Eight 117ci engine. What we also expected to come for 2023 but was not included in the announcement were the X350 and X350RA. Still, despite not being part of the big Jan. 18 announcement, we managed to get our hands on some information confirming more details of the Chinese-built models.

BMW Motorrad is commemorating its 100th anniversary with the release of Special Heritage editions of the R nineT and R18. BMW will produce 1,923 units of each model, recognizing the debut of the brand’s first motorcycle, the R 32, in September 1923 at the German Motor Show in Berlin.

Let the record show that, despite my best efforts, Yamaha’s MT-10 was not included in either the street or track portions of our mega seven-way open-class naked bike shootouts last year. I fought for its inclusion but was ultimately denied by the Bossman who wrote it off by saying our field was big enough and it wasn’t going to win anyway. That and we also knew a new one was already on the way.

Indian Motorcycle revealed a new FTR Sport model that replaces the FTR S in its 2023 lineup. The FTR Sport slots in under the FTR R Carbon but above the FTR Rally and the base FTR.

After presenting an electric prototype last month at Intermot, Kawasaki revealed a range of electric, hybrid, and hydrogen-powered prototypes at EICMA.

Triumph has announced a shakeup to its ever-popular Street Triple range today, introducing not one, but three evolutions to the family, creating what it says is “the most powerful Street Triple range ever.” Building off the success it has forged by being the sole engine supplier for the Moto2 racing category, Triumph now introduces the Street Triple R, Street Triple RS, and the Street Triple 765 Moto2 Edition – the latter of which will be relegated to just 765 units worldwide.

Ducati announced a brand new Diavel V4, replacing the previous 1,262cc V-Twin model with one powered by its 1,158cc V4 Granturismo engine.

Honda officially revealed its new CB750 Hornet, a new middleweight naked claiming a class-leading power-to-weight ratio. Unfortunately, the new Hornet has only been confirmed for Europe thus far, with no indication of U.S. availability. Pricing varies from country to country, but they generally hover around US$7,800.

Honda‘s been teasing its new Hornet for several months now, first with a concept at EICMA, some design sketches in June, and more recently, details about its new Parallel-Twin engine. While we wait for Honda to officially reveal the the bike, we’ve managed to get further specifications for the 2023 Honda Hornet, thanks to vehicle certification data from Switzerland.

It’s been nearly two years since BMW first debuted the M 1000 RR, its first motorcycle to carry the company’s high-performance M brand. We knew it wouldn’t be the first, though, after we broke the news that BMW had trademarked the name along with “M 1000 XR” and “M 1300 GS.” What we didn’t expect was for the next M-branded motorcycle to be based on the S 1000 R.

As we expected earlier this week, Ducati kicked off its 2023 World Première series with a limited edition Streetfighter V4 Lamborghini model. This marks the second tie-in between the two Volkswagen Group brands, following the Diavel Lamborghini model in 2021.

Spy photographers have snapped images of two new Suzuki prototypes powered by a new Parallel-Twin engine. The two motorcycles, an adventure bike and a naked model, appear to be the eventual successors to the V-Strom 650 and SV650, and the culmination of a long development path for Suzuki’s new middleweight twin-cylinder engine.
