Pierer Mobility (the company soon to be known as Bajaj Mobility) announced it is extending the contract of Chief Executive Officer Gottfried Neumeister through to the end of 2028.

The contract extension ensures that Neumeister will continue to operate KTM, and its sister brands Husqvarna and GasGas, as the company transitions into being a subsidiary of Bajaj Auto. Neumeister was first appointed co-CEO alongside Stefan Pierer on September 1, 2024, before becoming the sole CEO after Pierer's departure. While he shepherded the company through its financial challenges, it was unclear whether he would remain in his role under the new ownership. That question has now been answered, at least for the next few years.

The announcement also, at least symbolically, suggests that KTM will have at least some degree of independence from Bajaj. Whether this will be true in practice remains to be seen. One interesting aspect of the new contract is that Neumeister has agreed to step down from any outside positions in order to focus all of his energies on the KTM group.

PIERER Mobility AG (to be renamed soon to Bajaj Mobility AG): CEO Gottfried Neumeister confirmed until the end of 2028

Gottfried Neumeister's role as CEO of the future Bajaj Mobility AG and KTM AG has been extended early until 31 December 2028 – a clear sign of independence under the new ownership structure.

PIERER Mobility AG (soon to be Bajaj Mobility AG) and KTM AG have extended CEO Gottfried Neumeister's contract early, until the end of 2028. Following the closing of the change of control on November 18, 2025, the CEO's confirmation is a clear signal of the group's strategic independence and recognition of his commitment over the past months.

“I greatly appreciate the trust placed in me. Together with my new colleagues on the Executive Board, I would like to put KTM back on a clear growth path and thus strengthen the trust of our partners, customers, dealers and suppliers in the long term,” says Gottfried Neumeister, CEO of PIERER Mobility AG (soon to be Bajaj Mobility AG), adding: “The task now is to successfully implement our strategy of simplifying processes and focusing on the motorcycle market. In order to be able to dedicate myself fully to this task and to the restructuring of the KTM Group, I have agreed with the new majority owner that I will step down from all other functions outside the Bajaj Group in the near future.”

Srinivasan Ravikumar, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of PIERER Mobility AG, is looking forward to continuing the collaboration: "Gottfried Neumeister took on responsibility during a very difficult phase, resolutely faced the challenges and achieved extraordinary results. In doing so, he made a significant contribution to stabilising KTM and setting the course for the future.."

Gottfried Neumeister has been Co-CEO since 1 September 2024 and CEO of PIERER Mobility AG (soon to be Bajaj Mobility AG) since 23 January 2025.

I have owned over a dozen ktm’s starting in 1985 from 125, 250 300, 350, 500, 640, 690, 1190 and 1290. I lost One topend on my 1985 KTM 250mxc at a race in Sandy Oregon. That’s it. Sure KTM has had its financial troubles recently and cam troubles with the 790 and 890 motors but Seriously guys! If you want to keep running your rice burners go ahead. I own some of those too. But KTM has been Leading the performance and Inovation field Long enough that they have Forced ALL the other manufacturers to try to keep up! Good Grief Already!!

Rice burners? Funny that so many KTMs are made in Asia and even more will be made there when Bajaj moves the manufacturing to India! Good grief is right. Be informed before typing!

And as usual, another top CEO Stefan Pierer driving a company into the ground is never penalized, punished, or disciplined. Probably received a handsome reward for his dereliction.

    What's new.

Hope new ownership and management proves to be successful for the brand. It needs a serious reboot, focus on reliability, quality, and brand reputation. As usual, I'm sticking to Japanese machinery into the unforeseen future. Never let me down.
