For models not covered under this promotion, Harley-Davidson is offering a $250 credit towards parts and accessories through December 31, 2025. I like to compare HD to those old "coke bottle" Corvettes of the 1980's: long on nostalgia- short on performance. It's difficult to sell "iconic" motorcycles with new competitors and a poor economy. The Corvette evolved, and so too will HD. In the interim, most Americans aren't willing to step up to the plate for a $20k+ motorcycle.
Actually, Honda has offered the Hornet 750 and 1000 at price points below other bikes in the class. I think ALL of the manufacturers are worried about Chinese competition. HD builds a MUCH better bike these days (I was around for the AMF years). They will have to evolve. I always wondered why they didn't just introduce a separate line (similar to Livewire) that would abandon the V-twin cruiser ethos, and take on the world with water-cooled inline-4s. I LOVE Japanese bikes, but would buy a HD if they built something that I like. Sadly, I think Indian might do that for me BEFORE HD. Lastly, HD is a BRAND. Great brands are ALWAYS able to adapt to the needs of their customers, while anticipating the needs of the next generation. Good VALUE always works- they just need to do more!
