While KTM has provided more details, with the press release below citing the bike can be "determined by numbers," one number remains to be listed: the MSRP. We suppose it's one of those, "if you have to ask," kind of things.

Begin Press Release:

GET THE CIRCUIT JUICES FLOWING WITH THE ARRIVAL OF THE KTM 990 RC R TRACK

The race-derived potential of the KTM 990 RC R has already been felt on the road but this thrilling chameleon has changed its form: the KTM 990 RC R TRACK has arrived, and is a stripped-back, souped-up adrenaline monster primed for circuit use. This machine is desperate for speed and hungry for a target.

Almost everything about the new KTM 990 RC R TRACK can be determined by numbers.

0: compromises for a pure-bred non-street legal supersport motorcycle. Lights, mirrors, side-stand and other street requirements are gone, replaced by a high value - but also entry-level friendly – race-ready configuration. Low maintenance, easy to repair and detailed dealer support are other characteristics. More examples? The fairing is made from injected plastic for personal decals and graphics. The windscreen is a bit higher for a full tuck position. There is a wet weather taillight and paddock stand supplied as standard while the controls and dash have been simplified for the track.

2: Michelin Power Slick tires in sizes 120/70-R17 and 190/55-R17 for the track. As well as fully adjustable, state-of-the-art WP APEX suspension carrying settings that have been honed through bounteous testing laps around some of the most prominent motorsport circuits in Europe.

3: Track Modes. The KTM 990 RC R TRACK shaves two kilos through a more compact electronics system. Racers can set-up their bike to harness the most of their tires, power and fuel and for the demands of a session through three easily customizable Track Modes. There are possibilities for: Throttle Response, Motorcycle Traction Control, Slip adjustment, Anti Wheelie Mode, Launch Control and Engine Brake. Also count on a Pit limiter, Quickshifter+ and all the lap information needed through a sharp 4.2” full color TFT.

(RC)16: KTM’s MotoGP™ top speed record holder was the inspiration and the foil for the KTM 990 RC R TRACK’s aerodynamic profile. Wings and edges have been sculpted for the best downforce and corner performance for entry, grip and stability on acceleration. The 15.7 liter fuel tank and reworked seat (857 mm height) are key areas of the sporty ergonomics with six useful contact points to allow the rider to glide around the motorcycle with ease but also with attacking purpose.

320: mm of the Brembo HyPure front disc with next generation of the 4-piston engineering, meaning a more linear feel, a constant pressure point, less lever pull, and better modulation. A 240 mm rear disc complements the system that is also sports-orientated and upgraded for performance compared to the ABS-modulated outfit for the KTM 990 RC R.

947: cc of torque-filled blast. The KTM 990 RC R TRACK boosts the numbers to 135 PS (99.3 kW) and 105 Nm of grunt at 7000 rpm. It all comes from a parallel twin DOHC LC8c engine that already makes the KTM 990 RC R one of the most compact packages on the market and one of the best for power-to-weight. The Akrapovič Evolution line exhaust system, made from stainless steel and weighing just 3 kg hones the 98.2 dB output further as riders thunder through the racing gearbox (longer first and shorter sixth).

The KTM 990 RC R TRACK was unveiled at the 2025 launch of its sister model, the same time that KTM announced the KTM 990 RC R CUP: a cost-controlled, professionally organized six-round European race series for real riders (not Pros!). Participants have the extra bonus of receiving their KTM 990 RC R TRACK motorcycles first! Find out more information  HERE. The KTM 990 RC R TRACK is the ultimate refined – but still unfiltered – motorcycle for circuit thrills and for abuse of the stopwatches.

“The beauty of the KTM 990 RC R was the ease with which we could make only a few adjustments and have the KTM 990 RC R TRACK ready to go,” says KTM Head of Global Marketing Riaan Neveling. “Our history and achievements on the asphalt informed a lot of the KTM 990 RC R TRACK and the KTM 990 RC R range. We took on this project knowing that we wanted to send our customers heartrates’ racing as well! That was the goal, and the KTM 990 RC R TRACK is our best definition of a sportsbike yet. We hope to see as many of them as possible through apexes of the KTM 990 RC R CUP!”

What’s left to measure? Look in the mirror.

The KTM 990 RC R TRACK will ship to customers and to authorized KTM dealers from April 2026 while KTM 990 RC R CUP riders will receive their models from February.

No mention of any internal LC8 re-work? Is it possible to gain 12 more ponies from ECU tune and exhaust pipe and most likely breathing too, from it's original stock trim (123hp and 76 ft lbs torque)? I know in it's stock form - LC8 and 990 Duke/DukeR, there are no ECU re-flashes available. KTM has them locked. The engine runs real lean throughout the rev range too, pointing to potential power unlocks. I own one of the new series Dukes - std 990 Duke. I have searched high and low for a reflash, finally found Two Wheel Dyno Works, who does a lot of motorcyle racing and flash work. They finally go a 990 R to the dyno but commented no way to re-flash, only way to re-configure is through a power commander type fix, until Bosch unlocks or someone breaks the KTM code to open up the ECU?

European motorcycles and cars are severely overrated. I’ve riden them all and Kawasaki is still the best by far
