“Electric Sports” model to enter production by the end of the year

Honda will reveal an electric motorcycle on September 2. A teaser video plus still photos shared on Instagram offer a few glimpses, but enough to confirm Honda’s first “electric sports” model is based on the EV Fun Concept shown at EICMA, alongside the EV Urban Concept scooter.

Teaser images show a heavily camouflaged motorcycle with an LED headlight, bodywork single-sided swingarm, and wheels similar to what we saw on the EV Fun Concept. Beyond that, Honda hasn’t provided any details, including whether the Sept. 2 reveal will be for a full production model, or merely a more advanced prototype. Honda did previously say it expected a production model to come some time in 2025, but it’s possible this will be an early look ahead of a full reveal at EICMA.

Honda says the EV Fun Concept offers performance equivalent to a “mid-sized internal combustion engine motorcycle”, and a cruising range of more than 100 km (62 miles) from its fixed battery.

There are a few visible changes from the concept model. The teased motorcycle has a rectangular TFT display instead of the circular screen used on the concept. The triple tree is also different, with the bolts on the lower clamp in front of the fork tubes instead of behind like on the concept. The rear tire in the teaser video is also a Pirelli Diablo Rosso III, and not a IV, like the tire from the concept.

The left handlebar grip remains lever-free, which is not a big surprise for an electric motorcycle. The left switchgear is, however, noticeably bulkier than the relatively simple design used on the concept.

We’ve still got a ways until Sept. 2, so expect Honda to drip out further teasers between now and then.
